A brutal attack on harmless Christian’s Monks South of Egypt

A militia Arab Gang of muslim fundamentals attacked the 4th Century ancient Christian Monastery Abo Fana Monastery 300km South of Cairo – Malawi, with at least 20 machine guns, machete & sticks.

A gang of sixty militia arab attacked, Abo Fana Monastery (4th Century ancient Christian Monastery – 300km south of Cairo, Egypt) on Saturday the 31st of May at 5:00 pm.

The attackers were firing their weapons to air until they approach the Monastery machinery & workers room. The attackers took the Monastory workers' bulldozer and demolished 2 Church and few buildings aroud the church and set monks rooms on f i r e. As well as destroying the 1st floor building inside the Monastery internal boundaries. Along with burning the Monastery farm (the main source of income for the Monastery )

4people were injured from the attack on the Monastery. 2 monks victims were injured from machine guns wounds + 2 people injured from sticks and machetes beatines. The 4 injured people were transferred to hospital on the back of trucks… as the Ambulance has not sent any cars to the monastery to add an insult to injury …

The Arab Gang took 4 people as hostages. 3 Monks from Abo Fana Monastery as well as another Christian person were taken as hostages, before fleeing the area.

There are strong evidences of Security & Police Forces involvement.
One witness said “Multiple requests to Security Forces for help were ignored and have not acted on until the attackers were long time flee the area with, 4 Hostages and our bulldozer and burning down buildings and the farm. The Police forces arrived 4 hours after the attack around 9:00pm”.There is also a question mark around the ambulance cars were not dispatched to the seen when requets for help were recived .

It worth mentioning, there were 18 attacks on Abo Fana’s Monastery last year, which police have ignored and choose not to act or arrest anyone. The lack of intention to act upon complains, has encouraged the militia Arab to attack viciously.

The latest attack was after a court case 2 months ago upheld the monastery right to build a fence around the monastery to protect its heritage value, as well as the monks and their farms properties

In a late development.... the 4 hostages were released with a multiple wounds. The Hostages were badly injured. There were beaten and humiliated. They were asked to spit on the cross. The hostage injuries were mixed between broken limbs, cut in eras & deep wounds from whipping and beating.


This is the latest wave of violence against Christians in Egypt. Last week 4 Copts (Christian Egyptian) were gunned down in the hart of Cairo (El-Zaeiton) at noon. Egypt is going through a wave of valance against the Christian minority COPTS (ancestors of the Pharaohs) by muslim fundamentals which are backed up by the weak Egyptian government & Rich wahbies from Saudi Arabia
